Sophie

What a delightful surprise she was! Me and Hazel got together for another shoot and decided to do very simple beautiful images. We noticed that all we've done involves heavy makeup or a lot of info so .. We went clean simple and sexy.

All natural light and my lovely new camera! Sophie just knew what she had to do to as a model to make it all happen.

Our only issue in this particular shoot was weather to keep shooting or not :D

ENJOY!

Goodbye D80, Hello D700!

Well..The time has come to move on. I have been using my Nikon D80 for 3 years now and it has been impecable and a great companion. A lot of my assistants or colleagues never truly believed me when I said I used such a small camera but I did! and it was great.. I learned and developed with it and now I can understand the D700 in more detail and can appreciate it much more. I believe the quality of my images will increase and more jobs will come. So, I am happy!

the experience of shooting fo BITCH MAGAZINE..

So, Im not a rebel, I not the kind that brakes the rules specially when it comes to photography but yesterday, I did.

I was shooting for Bitch Magazine Online , first edition and so we all headed to Canary Wharf (nice...) . We were a good chunky group, very stable and as always, a good mood is required.

As planned with the "suppose manager" of All Bar One , we were going to be there for hair makeup and changes. So was that this man was NOT the manager, but just a key holder. The real manager had no idea what we were doing there and that for me, a very organized person, simply stressed me out as you can imagine. She let us stay there until 12 and luckily enough that gave us time to do hair. Ollie, our cinematographer went hunting for a nice space for us to settle whilst I tried to not get upset. Eventually, Sandra, the founder of the magazine arrived and seemed to be less worried than me.I think everyone was. We ended up at Starbucks IN canary wharf shopping centre (who would imagine that that would be our solution). They were kind enough to let us stay there as long as we needed. Only problem was now styling the girls. SO we went completely rebellious and did it on the street... in canary wharf... Looking at it now, quite fun.

Now the whole point of me writting all this was that I was so fascinated by one thing. Every corner we turned to, as you can image, someone would kick us out: small spaces, walls, corners..you name it! BUT shooting right in front of every famous building in canary wharf was the easiest thing to do! As I said, I am not a rebel, I like to be in control of what I do. But yesterday, speed and precision were my main points. So there we went. the 2 girls were perfect, bang on, quick and we had a great background, awesome weather. I shot 2mins everytime and we went back and forth until I got the shot. I am not aware if you know but I'm a quick shooter so that was no problem. Having a tight group REALLY helped and both Viola , the MUA and Hair stylist and SImone, the stylist were amazing as always. Ollie got some great shots of the shoot and my assistant Pei-Chi was that perfect extra pair of hands. I think Sandra enjoyed what we did, and I am well pleased!!

So this is just a teaser :) Pics will be out end of November on the Launch!whoop whoop.

Here's for the team:

Bubbles and Jewellery

I was all ready to get my lights up, mentally prepared for the grey sky and horrid wind.. AND MR SUN CAME OUT! What a lovely day. Not one cloud in the sky the whole day.

I meet up with the MUA Hazel Buford with my videographer Ollie Gayler (yes..I now have a videographer..progress!) to her humble flat. Facing the 02 arena and with a breathtaking view of Canary Warf to the horizon, 10 floors up and an with an adorable balcony. I stepped outside and waved hello to mr. Seagull flying by, the usual .. so yes, we were pretty high in the sky at Hazels simple home for two.

We get cracking. I show Hazel my friend Catriona Lorimer's jewellery. I cannot explain what and how she does them, but they are adorable little pieces of nature transformed into expensive looking earrings, bracelets and necklaces. I also show her my BEN 10 bubbles tube and we're ready to rock and roll!

I was invited my Oxygen models to test shoot some of their models and today I was lucky to meet Sydney and Lydia who magically happen to work together perfectly.

Lydia was the bubbles girl ( I dont know how to put it). She wore colourful makeup and had bubbles flying all over her. In the mean while, Ollie was filming and captured some great angles of the shoot. Oh, I forgot to mention: Lights? Were NOT needed..Natural beautiful sunlight all day against a convenient white wall. Beautiful results, she was breath taking and sexy.. a photographer's little paradise.

Sydney was wearing Catriona's pieces. The intention of the shoot was purely beauty and oh my God did she deliver it. I cannot explain what I felt inside when Sydney started doing her thing. I don't know if your are aware but there is nothing more frustrating for a photographer to have to guide the model throughout the whole shoot and she did not need a word said to her. I am so pleased with her work.

I am still in the process of "photoshopping" the images, as unfortunately my digi artist Lewis HAD to go to HAWAII! ha.. He deserved the holidays, bless him. As always, I am super rapid when it comes to editing so hopefully it will we a couple of days until I post the images.

So today's team besides myself was:

MUA and Haird - Hazel Burford
Videographer: Ollie Gayler
Jewellery: Catriona Lorimer

BOTH MODELS ARE FROM OXYGEN MODELS:

Sydney and Lydia

Hope you enjoy!

Working with a great team as well so made everything work smoothly. London decided to go tropical and the sun was shinning as I have not seen it shine in ages. I love the results, am very pleased and loved the day!

Random

This is just a random post... I dont really know how many people read my blog... but today I was having a cigarette and a glass of red on my balcony observing my flatmates listening to Peter, Bjorn & John - Up against The wall- and I realized how important it is for someone, specially as an artist, to have a group of people that you like, that inspire you , that make you happy, to make your life a better life. If you feel miserable, sad or again, not inspired, change places, move on, go somewhere you are happy. There is nothing better than being in a space that you are happy when London (specially London) can make you feel so lonely.

I wanted to take this time to thank my flatmates/friend for being such great people, people that I look up to, that are there not even knowing. Life is so much easier...

Yesterday someone told me:" Your "problem" is that you have too much love to give and you dont know where to put it"... so I am giving that to you..

Thank you: Trevor, Ollie, Kumal, Charley and Frankie for being who you are

Portugal

Dear ALL!!

SO i havnt written anything in a while. My life turned upside down out of the blue in the last month and I was organizing a shoot in Portugal and have not had the chance to sit down and write.

My last shoot as I said above was in Portugal, in beautiful Guincho beach. WIndy and sunny (not too windy lucky us) made images that bit more dramatic.

Joao David, ex college colleague and current friend was the designer. Breath taking dresses, so detailed and with such good taste. MUA was once again Hazel Burford who is just too goo to be true. Models were Sofia Belanciano from ELite Lisbon and Silvia Cid.

I had very good feedback from everyone and I am thrilled with results!

Take a look

Filters

I received my close up filters today. I would advise all human beings that cannot afford a macro to get one of these kits. Makes such a difference. I am super excited about trying them. Have just been playing with the +10 and BOY does it get close!

Roof Top

Well.. from all the days in the week, this day it rained the whole day... When you spend 2 months planning a shoot, and on THAT particular day, the sun decides its not in the mood to come out, you start getting stressed. I must say, I was very pleased with the texture of the sky in the end and also because my sweet model Gina from Confidence Models realized that when your a model, rain "ain't" an excuse to not get out there. So thats what we did, shot on the roof top of " Mum & Dad " in Schorditch, lovely view of London on a rainy day (windy too). Gina was great, rain and wind did not stop her from posing her Caribbean self. Great stuff!!

Take a look at the work on the usual place!

Hair and MUA: Natalja Berzina

Styling contributions: Terry-Anne Webb, Emma Corck and Thais. HUGE THANK YOU for Charley Chill for the help and support!

Next stop - COLORS

So, Iv got this session booked for the 2nd of feb. SUPER excited about it. Got 2 amazing girls (models). Close up's, very colorful. A MUA called Samia contacted me for this shoot. She had no concept , no idea but wanted to work with me. She does a completely different style of makeup, Arab makeup, which means big, bright, in your face! I was flattered. Have worked with her before and thought this would be a challenge. I then opened up my "inspirations" file and prioritized beauty portraits (as always) and thought: How can I mix beauty , which is quite plane and simple with fresh bright make up?...

After a week, I came up with this:

Its a mix of the last Miu Miu campaign with MAC beauty shots (colors colors colors!!!). Agency sent me a lovely blond girl called Maria. On that same day, this beautiful swedish model called Elaine sent me an e-mail wanting to cooperate. She was stunning and I immediately said yes. The two of them have completely different looks and I'm so looking fwd to this. I think this will be the cherry on top of my cake, in other words, the perfect ending to the new beginning that is my new portfolio!Hehe

I will obviously post one of the images as soon as edited and hope to have good critique (or bad, they're the ones that make you grow).

See you soon!
